Questions And Answers

Can we offer short term coverage?

No. The shortest elimination period we offer is 30 days, and the shortest benefit period is 12 months.

Can we write government employees?

Yes. Coverage is limited, but we can provide benefits for city, state and federal employees.

Do we offer true group LTD?

No. We can offer deep discounts, simplified and guaranteed issue underwriting, and we can program around group LTD to provide additional benefits to prospects who have LTD.

Can we offer coverage to people over age 60?

Yes. We can provide a 2 year benefit period for people over age 60.

Can we use medical requirements that were done for another carrier?

Yes. Most medical requirements can be used if done for another carrier within 6 months. Some companies will accept requirements for 12 months.

What is the most coverage my client can get?

The general rule of thumb is 60% of salary; however, there are a lot of exceptions to that rule. Generally speaking, the higher the income, the lower the % covered. Participation limits vary by insurance companies.

Can we insure a specific body part?

Yes, if that body part is necessary for them to perform their occupation.

My client was declined, can we get coverage somewhere else?

We can insure many sub-standard risks. If your client was declined, we will shop the sub-standard market for your client. Sometimes we are also able to get a standard offer from a different carrier.

My client lives in a different state then where they work; where do i write the application?

Most insurance companies require that you use the state of residence, but some companies will allow the applications to be written in another state.

Can I write someone working less than 30 hours a week?

Yes. Lloyds of London will consider someone working less than 30 hours a week as long as they have an annual income over $40,000. Assurity will write nurses who work less than 30 hours a week.

Can we write Professional Athletes? If so what is needed?

Yes. Lloyds of London will consider professional athletes. All that is needed is the individuals name. Lloyds of London will look up the athlete, their statistics and contract, and they will determine if they are eligible for coverage.
